Responsible Business

Castellum is working for a sustainable development, with social responsibility and environmental concern. A sustainable development involves both acting ethically towards customers, employees and other parties and developing the operations with least possible influence on the environment. Such a work results in added value through more satisfied customers, strengthened brand and increased competitiveness.

Castellum's environmental work began in 1995 and is today focused on efficient energy consumption and improving the properties' environmental status. The environmental work is performed locally by each subsidiary and is followed up regularly. General measurable environmental targets are:

- Energy consumption shall be reduced by at least 1% per square metre
and year, i.e. at least 10% during a ten-year period.
- Carbon dioxide emissions shall be reduced by at least 2.5% per square
metre and year, i.e. at least 25% during a ten-year period.
- All properties owned for more than one year, shall be environmentally
  evaluated.
- All new constructions shall be environmentally classified.

Two of Castellum's subsidiaries, Fastighets AB Brostaden and Harry Sjögren AB, has been assigned by the EU to become a Green Building Corporate Partner which means that the energy consumption has been reduced with at least 25% in at least 30% of the real estate portfolio. Eklandia Fastighets AB has during 2009 received the first BREEAM-certificate for Sweden in a new property in Gothenburg.
