A place for tomorrow's solutions
Step by step, a new chapter is unfolding at Säve, a place where innovation, sustainability, and business development go hand in hand. Nordic Hub Säve is taking shape as an international arena for tomorrow’s solutions in sustainable logistics and electromobility. Here, industry leaders, pioneers, and researchers will meet in an environment that fosters collaboration, technological advancement, and the transport solutions of the future. Säve site has a fantastic location close to the largest port in the Nordic region, as well as industry, national transport routes and the city of Gothenburg. Gothenburg has been voted the best logistics location in Sweden for many years and 70% of Scandinavia’s entire industry and population lies within a 500-kilometre radius of Gothenburg.

A location for cutting-edge development in logistics and mobility
Nordic Hub Säve is about more than just technology and logistics. It is also a workplace of the future – with people at the centre. The area is being developed into a modern, inspiring environment that encourages networking and knowledge exchange. Plans include social meeting places, excellent transport connections, and generous spaces for exercise and recreation – all to create an attractive everyday experience. The vision is for up to 8,000 people to work here once the area is fully developed. Already today, some 40 tenants from a range of industries have established operations, and interest continues to grow. Castellum is laying the foundation for a sustainable working environment where business, innovation, and human development come together in a future-oriented environment. Our ambition is to create workplaces people genuinely long for, places where they thrive, grow, and feel good. We provide the foundation for a sustainable work environment where professionalism, innovation, and human development come together in a future-oriented environment.

Sustainability – a given
Sustainability is a natural guiding principle throughout the entire development of the area. The goal is net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, including both operations and new construction. We are planning for integrated energy supply based on locally produced renewable energy, and we will take a holistic approach to compensating for affected ecosystem services. A stormwater strategy is being developed to manage heavy rainfall in the area. As climate change and extreme weather become more frequent, and land is increasingly covered by impermeable surfaces, new environmentally friendly methods for managing stormwater runoff are needed. A “rain garden” has already been created here – a beautiful and sustainable solution that captures and filters rainwater. At the same time, it offers an attractive space with a pond and plants, which in turn can attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife that form their own small ecosystems.

Shaping the future – right here, right now
Several leading electromobility companies have established operations at Säve. Volvo Technology is developing autonomous trucks, and Zeekr (formerly CEVT) is working on the next generation of electric vehicles. Since 2023, SEEL, the Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, has also established a largescale testing facility here, aiming to become one of Europe’s top environments for electrified mobility. Gothenburg has long held a strong position as Sweden’s leading logistics location, and the city’s strategic business development programme for 2023–2035 highlights Nordic Hub Säve as a key area in strengthening Scandinavia’s logistics infrastructure.
With a top-class geographic location, just minutes from the largest port in the Nordics and within reach of all major Scandinavian metropolitan regions, Nordic Hub Säve offers unique conditions for the sustainable developments of tomorrow. The combination of strategic positioning and a clear focus on electromobility and logistics enables the creation of solutions tailored to both business needs and long-term societal goals.
Säve today
Castellum acquired Säve Airport in December 2018, thus gaining access to a fantastic development site extending to just over 3 million square metres. The site also offers other flight possibilities. There are community aviation facilities, including helicopter operations for the police, ambulance and sea rescue, which provide a valuable service to the regional community and will continue to do so for a long time.
Plans for Säve
Within a 10-year period we intend to develop Säve in stages and build hundreds of thousands of square metres of state-of-the-art logistics and business premises, as well as test areas for zero-emission autonomous vehicles. In 2021 we started the construction of SEEL – the Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory – now recently inaugurated. In parallel with the long-term development of the site we also intend to create a cluster and test bed for innovation and development of the sustainable transport and mobility of the future.

Service and communications
The ambition is to ensure that people who visit and work in the area have access to a range of mobility services, EV charging, opportunities for recreation and exercise, as well as meeting places that foster collaboration and social interaction. The area should also be easily accessible by public transport or bicycle. In short, we aim to make it easier for our customers to operate their businesses sustainably — and for those who work here to genuinely look forward to coming to work. Since the summer of 2023, Västtrafik’s bus line 36 has been serving the area.
